Careers at Ambition Partners Advisory
Careers for experienced public sector finance professionals
We are an advisory firm that values competence and experience. If you have worked hands-on with GRAP, the MFMA or the PFMA and would like to apply that experience to public sector engagements, we would be glad to hear from you.
Who we are
Ambition Partners Advisory is an advisory firm led by Chartered Accountants (SA). We work with municipalities, municipal entities, government departments and public entities across South Africa on financial reporting, fixed asset registers, mSCOA, audit readiness and technical accounting under GRAP, the MFMA and the PFMA.
Our clients rely on us for work that is reviewed by auditors and reported to councils, so we look for people who have already done it: professionals who can take ownership of an engagement, stand behind a working paper and explain their judgement to a CFO or an auditor. Our team is built on competent, experienced professionals, and we give each of them the responsibility and support to do their best work.
Who we are looking for
We are building a pool of experienced consultants for current and upcoming engagements. The disciplines we need most are:
- CA
Chartered Accountants (SA)
To lead AFS preparation and review, technical accounting and audit readiness engagements, and to review the work of the wider team.
- AGA
AGA(SA) and BCom Accounting with articles
Experienced accountants who can prepare reconciliations, working papers and disclosure notes to a standard that holds up under audit.
- CE
Civil Engineers
For infrastructure asset registers and condition assessments on municipal and public sector assets.
- EE
Electrical Engineers
For electrical network and plant assets, and the technical evidence that asset registers depend on.
- ACT
Actuaries
For employee benefit valuations and related provisions in the public sector.
- PS
Public sector finance and audit specialists
Former auditors, internal auditors and municipal or departmental finance officials whose experience of GRAP, the MFMA or the PFMA is hands-on. If your profession is not listed above, apply and tell us about it.
How you can work with us
Flexible arrangements
We work with people full time, part time, on fixed-term contracts and for defined projects such as an AFS season or an asset verification. Some of the work can be done remotely, with time on site at clients where the engagement needs it.
What we value
- Hands-on experience under GRAP, the MFMA or the PFMA
- Registration with a recognised professional body
- Working papers that another professional can follow and re-perform
- Integrity, discretion and respect for clients' officials
- A willingness to transfer skills, not only deliver work
What happens after you apply

- We review it against our engagements. Applications are considered as opportunities arise, not only when a vacancy is advertised.
- We contact you when there is a fit. If your experience matches an engagement, we will arrange a conversation.
- We verify before we appoint. Qualifications, professional registration and references are checked before any appointment.

Frequently asked questions
Do you have vacancies at the moment?
We keep a pool of experienced consultants and draw on it as engagements arise, so applications are welcome at any time. When a specific role opens, we look at the applications we already hold first.
Can I work remotely or part time?
Yes. Some of our engagements can be done remotely, and we work with consultants full time, part time, on contract and for defined projects. Some work needs time on site at clients, and we agree that up front.
Which documents should I upload?
Your CV is required. Copies of your qualifications and professional registration help us move quickly when an opportunity arises. A copy of your ID is optional at this stage and is only needed before an appointment.
How long do you keep my application?
We keep applications for up to 12 months for recruitment purposes, in line with the Protection of Personal Information Act. To update or withdraw your application at any time, use the contact form on our website.
